RIBBONS
Am I the only one who is sick to hell of those damn magnetic car ribbons? Man. Tacky. Especially those people who have about 17 of them (right next to their Dale, Jr. decal). How come people don't steal those things off cars, since they peel right off? Answer: because they're like dust molecules: they're everywhere, and they ain't worth shit.
I was thinking it would be fun to do a survey of bumper (and window) stickers. I was envisioning that you could walk around different areas (Walmart, downtown, a heath club, a tanning salon, etc.) and record which bumper stickers, window decals, and magnetic ribbons you find on which different cars (make, model, and color) from which different places (county, state). You could do all kinds of cool stuff like some detrended correspondence analysis to categorize people into sociological classes based on their sticker/ribbon assemblage (including an analysis of where they're from, where they're parked, and what kind of cars they drive). You could also map the occurrence of different sticker assemblages by state or county. I bet you would find alot these people at Walmart:
-Make & Model: 1995 Chevy Silverado
-Stickers/Ribbons: Calvin pissing on a Ford symbol, Support Our Troops ribbon, Confederate flag decal, and a big number 8 decal.
Anyone volunteer to help me collect data?

Make & Model: 1992 Oldsmobile Bravada
Stickers: Yellow Ribbon with the phrase "Made in China"
That'd be mine. The sticker was made by my mongoloid friend Jack Jackson. His helper, Justin Firestone, gived it to me. You should visit my blog, and then visit Jack Jackson's Dirty Pictures 2000.

I had a friend do a similar study for a statistics class a few months after September 11th. She looked for a correlation between American flag stickers and vehicle make (SUVs, trucks, hybrids, etc.) Surprisingly she didn't find any correlation.
Then again, it was in Ithaca, and that was before we had a Wal Mart.

I'm in. I'll also fund your research--is $15 enough. I have also been wanting to do some analysis like this at a place here called "Cheapest Damn Cigarettes" (yes, that is the real name of a business.)
You mentioned the pissing Calvin. Funny how it's always Ford and Chevy. Why not, say, a sticker on a Toyota pissing on a Honda logo, or vice versa? Maybe a sticker on a Lexus of Calvin pissing on a BMW logo. Or, one that I'd love to have, a Calvin pissing on a Hummer logo.
