NANO

Dammit. So, my plan was to work on a post-apocalyptic romantic western comedy for NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month). Then, with only 2 days left until the start of the month, I find out that Cormac McCarthy just put out a post-apocalyptic, diasporic novel.

Like Bennett, I have always been a sucker for post-apocalypse stories--The Stand, Good News, Z for Zachariah, and so on. Not to mention all of the movies--"Terminator," "Mad Max," etc. I'm not sure if the market can support 2 Book-of-Revelations-come-true novels in the same year, let alone the same economic quarter. It would be like if someone made a big Truman Capote movie last year, and then someone went and made another big Truman Capote movie this year.

Ideas? I'm listening. Caller go 'head....

Comments:
Two other great post-apocalypse novels you should read if you haven't: "A Canticle For Liebowitz" by Walter Miller Jr., and "Riddley Walker" by Russell Hoban.

Oh. I also forgot "Armageddon: The Musical," by Robert Rankin.
